Hello, everyone! My name is John Gilroy, and I am the owner and founder of Gilroy Media. Here at Gilroy Media, we're on a mission to become the No. 1 high school sports media outlet in the state of Michigan.

Gilroy Media started as a one-man operation. I was taking pictures, conducting interviews, creating graphics, and putting together rankings all by myself. Things were going well, and I had accumulated over 200,000 views on my own. As I began to notice the rapid growth, I realized I needed to build a team. That led me to bring on two of my best friends, who now help create graphics and collaborate with me on rankings.

Now, I want you all to get to know me a little better.

I was born and raised in the small town of Clinton, Michigan. I was a Clinton Redskin/Redwolf from preschool through graduation day, and I still carry that Redwolf pride with me to this day.

I played four years of high school football, earning my first starting reps as a junior late in the playoffs before becoming a starter during my senior season. Playing college football was always one of my biggest dreams, and throughout high school, I constantly pursued that goal.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing around 320 pounds, I was a bigger guy on the football field. I ended up receiving a couple of NCAA Division III offers, with some of my biggest recognition coming through official visit invitations from Eastern Michigan University, where I also had opportunities to explore. Ultimately, I decided to commit to Adrian College during the winter of my senior year.

Over time, however, I began to develop doubts about continuing to play football. By the time I arrived on campus, I realized I didn't love playing the game as much as I once had. Ultimately, I decided it was time to hang up the cleats.

I've continued my education at Adrian College, where I've been studying sports broadcasting. My goal has always been to make a name for myself in the sports media world as a broadcaster.

That dream began when I was just a little kid, watching ESPN's College GameDay every Saturday morning with my dad. Two of my biggest idols in sports broadcasting have always been Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler. Watching them helped inspire my passion for the industry and my desire to one day make a name for myself in the same world.

Amid everything going on in my life, I also decided to focus on myself. About a year ago, I began a weight-loss journey that resulted in me losing 140 pounds. I came out of that journey looking like a whole new man. Along the way, I also fell in love with my beautiful girlfriend, Norah, who supports all of my crazy dreams and continues to be my biggest fan.

That journey helped reignite my motivation to pursue my dream of becoming one of the best sports broadcasters in the world.

Today, I'm working as a writer and reporter for the Portland Beacon in Portland, Michigan, while also building my own media outlet and working alongside an incredible team. I'm currently a junior at Adrian College and am set to graduate in the spring of 2028.

But graduation won't be the end of Gilroy Media. This is something I plan to continue building for a very long time.

We're growing faster than I ever could have imagined. Gilroy Media has generated nearly 500,000 views this month alone, and we're approaching 400 followers. Seeing how far this has come from a one-man operation is something I'm incredibly proud of, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Thank you to everyone who has followed me along on this journey and supported Gilroy Media. Your support means more than you know. Be on the lookout for even more content coming your way each week!

The journey is just getting started.
